A Collection of Tales Empty A Collection of Tales

So, let's get to the point. Awhile back, King Staragna asked me to come up with a short story for two months and I agreed to it. Unfortunately, I only got 32 or something stories out of it, but I have decided... let's put a few here, huh? Sound good? I like that idea. To make sure something is posted on the site each day, this is what will go up; a revised short story I created to keep my mind working on writing. So, for your viewing pleasure, here is the first of many stories. Comment if you like them. Thank you!

The prompt Staragna gave me for this one was something similar to... "The Leading Player from Pippin finding his newest victim!" Eh... if the wordings wrong, he'll change it.

Olivia
"Oh, why hello there little lady! How are you feeling this fine evening?" The Leading Player asked with a charming smile.

"Um, I'm all right. Thanks." Responded the blue eyed 18 year old. The two stood outside the girl's home under a street lamp. The sun had just set and the neighborhood only had one or two cars pass down the road. Olivia was just throwing out the trash when this man in a black suit and hat strolled toward her.

"You don't seem all right, love. You look like you could use a change... a more... satisfying way a life. What's your name?"

The girl with short brown hair and lean figure tilted her head and furrowed her eyebrows. "I'm Olivia... and you are?"

The man grinned from ear to ear and clapped his hands together loudly. "Just call me the sidekick of your new life! I will help you push away this boring atmosphere and set you up a more satisfying style! Join me, and your life will be transformed into a dazzling and extravagant world!" The man's arms danced through the air as he gestured to emphasize his words.

With two steps back, Olivia had her back to the street lamp. "I don't know who you are... but I don't want your offer. My life is fine the way it is." She said firmly, crossing her arms over her chest.
"You've never wanted more, Olivia? I'm sure something could change for the better, couldn't it?" He mused, he smile dimming into sympathy. "If you had such a chance, wouldn't you take it?"
Silence engulfed the two as Olivia grew both suspicious and hopeful of the Leading Player's offer. "Well..." Her eyes wandered to the side. "Having my mom back might bring my family together again..."

"Oh really? Where is she now?"

"She's with God now... she died of an illness three years ago. It's still hard on our family with only two incomes instead of three... my two younger brothers can't work yet due to labor laws..."
The man crossed over to the girl and gave her a hug, a frown shaping his face. "You poor girl... no money and no mother figure for your brothers? You must be who they look up to all the time."
She scoffed at his comment. "They treat me like a mom... I have to do everything for them and I barely get time to myself. They need to learn how to tie their own shoes."

"Well, you're in luck!" He patted her back and grinned. "My friends and I can help you solve your problems! We can get you more money, your brothers will treat you right, and with a little magic," he waved his hands in front of her as if pulling a card out of thin air, "you will see your mother once again."

The girl's widened and her jaw dropped. "R... really? You can do that?"

"Of course we can!" Softly, the two could hear humming around them. "Join us and you will see your mother! Join us and you will be rich, Olivia!"

As the humming grew louder, Olivia's hopes and dreams grew stronger. "We will make you an extraordinary girl, Olivia. You will be on top of the world with your family together! You all will find your Corner of the Sky!"

"My Corner of the Sky..." The girl breathed, her eyes clouding over with a fantasy world. "Please let me join you then! I... I've got to be where my spirit can run free! I can't stay in this ordinary place!"
She clasped her hands in front of her, pleading for the Leading Player to take her on her new adventure as the misfits from the shadows crowded around her, giggling and admiring her.

The man smirked. "Then let the show begin! Get her ready! We have magic to do, everyone!" The crowd hollered and cheered in delight as the street lamp dimmed and went out.

So, yeah. For most of you, this is going to make absolutely no sense. I know that. Go read up on your musicals. This is from the musical "Pippin" which is one of my all time favorites. I suggest watching it when you get the chance mostly because it's fantastic and then you would see all my cleverly placed references! Yay~

Anyway, that's it. Next one I will call... Bottled Hopes. See ya tomorrow.

"Write a story about a water bottle."
Bottled Hopes
Life is hard when you're left all alone. When you only have one use in the world. When all you're good for is being drained of all you are and then reproducing in a painful way.

"Honey, you need to throw your bottles away. I am getting tired of always picking up after you." The tall woman called down the stairs.

"Sorry mom! I'm in a hurry! I'll pick it up when I get home." The door slammed behind the younger female's voice.

The woman sighed and picked up the empty water bottle and threw it in the tiny waste basket. She walked off and her footsteps could be heard going down the stairs.

In the tiny waste basket, the water bottle twitched. It writhed and squirmed, unable to get itself out of the basket. Poor little bottle... if only it could push it over with its weight. If only it still had some water in it. The piece of plastic could think, hear, smell, but it had no arms, not legs, it didn't even possess muscles to push itself around. Once again, all it could do was satisfy human and other life forms needs.

But wait... the little bottle helped keep these creatures alive. These creatures couldn't live without water, right? They had to have some portable way to have water! Oh, how the bottle wish he could be recycled now. He wanted to help more people get water!

He couldn't help but think of all the ways he could give back to those that needed him! And what if the water could talk too! Maybe because he didn't before he never noticed water could live. He could make a new friend...

The little bottle stood still in its waste basket, waiting, hoping for someone to pick him out and fill him back up for the day.

"A story about a Mathematician who meets the devil."

Two Tough Roads
Jimmy had been walking for miles on a dirt path. His feet ached and his body grew weary. He couldn't remember as to how he started walking. He can remember driving down the highway with his children and everyone screamed. He can't remember why or what might have caused it.

The man passed over another hill and over the top, he could see at the bottom a fork in the road. Great, hopefully there was a sign up ahead. He kept walking, annoyed and ready to camp on the side.

When he reached the fork, he found two people standing next to each other just before the choice of paths. "Why hello there." One of them greeted.

"Hey! Nice to see you, Jimmy. We thought you lost your way." The gentleman on the left said with a grin. He wore a black suit and had reddish skin. Two blemishes were on either side of his forehead and his nails a little too long for a normal male's.
The traveler was puzzled. "How do you know my name? Do I know you?"

The man whistled and gave a small chuckle. "I would hope so. Your next choice decides your eternity."

"What?" Jimmy questioned, his mind incapable of understanding what was going on.

"You're dead, Jimmy." The other man interrupted. His attire was a white suit with slicked back, blonde hair. His features seemed to be sculpted by God himself. He was a very attractive man.

"You were hit by a car and killed along with two of your kids. Sorry to give the horrifying news." The man frowned and sighed. "It's sad to see a family split apart by death."

"Then..." Jimmy trailed off. "I have to choose between Heaven and Hell?"

"You catch on fast, boy" the black suited man said. "Though we are only representatives. We can not tell you who is what and which way is which."

"So... I have to trust in my judgement?"

"Precisely. You have to follow your heart. If you have been a kind soul, you will be lead to the true path."

"If you have been a bad person, your conscience will direct you to hell. If you are a good person, heaven is your destination." The man in white included.

Jimmy looked at both of them and to the roads they stood next to. One would bring him happiness and bliss... the other would be an afterlife stuck in a living nightmare. The man racked his brain for an answer, only coming up with the probability of getting this wrong... it was a 50/50 chance, and with just high stats for either side, it was still so risky.

"Hm... and you won't tell me who is who..." he murmured and looked to their appearance. A gloomy atmosphere clouded over both of them, yet the man in black... Jimmy was drawn oddly toward his path. How could he go down that one though?

Those blemishes... they had to be horns that had been taken off or something. He couldn't follow that path.

The man in white grinned and watched the wanderer step toward him. "My road, son?"

"Yeah. I pick yours. See you down the road." Jimmy said as he walked down.

The other path once he was out of sight brought about a faded image behind the man in black, as if two little ghosts were trying to materialize. "Daddy!"
